Hello Friends,
Before I get to the events of the home game last Saturday. I came across I very well done article on the D&D boards (was directed from ENWorld) entitled Behind Every Good GM

The quote I am going to take from the Part 1 is...

"Behind every good DM are good players. I've seen good DMs run games for bad players, at least until the paralysis sets in or until they're reduced to shambling wrecks. Bad players are DM kryptonite. That said, I recommend that every DM endure at least one horrendous player experience to remind him or her of the value of great players, of which I probably have more than my fair share."

Event Description

Vegas Game Day is a free, monthly "mini-con", which brings together the local gaming community to play and teach old school, "analog" social games like roleplaying games, board games, card games, and tactical miniatures. Find local groups looking for players or meet new players for your home games! There are organized and scheduled games in addition to open tables for pick-up games.

What to Expect

Take a look at some of the fun in store for you at Vegas Game Day!
  • Pathfinder Society (Pathfinder D&D 3.5)
  • Living Forgotten Realms (D&D 4.0)
  • ShadowRun Missions
  • Independent/Story Games
  • Board Games (Settlers of Catan, Carcassone & much more.)
In addition to scheduled events, we always have several open tables setup for pick-up games. We also offer the Indy Games Carnival, which runs in a “pick-up game” style where interested players can get quick demos of games they are interested in or sit down with several players and play a full adventure. It’s a great opportunity to play a game you never heard of or have always wanted to try out!
From the latest Euro board game, to collectible and non-collectible card games, to traditional favorites. We always have open tables that can facilitate various board and card games.

Meet Local Gamers

Not only is Vegas Game Day a great place to play games but you can mix it up and get to know your local gamers! Come out and find opportunities for regular games, events, and social gatherings. Find new players for your game. It's nice to meet face to face and play a game or two to see how people fit together!
Currently scheduled or slotted games are organized via Warhorn, a game scheduling website. You must sign up and create an account on Warhorn to reserve a seat in a game.
If you are interested in running a game, please PM Stevebob or Perry Snow and we'll get you on the schedule!

Now I have not been to the new location, but I hear its a heck of a lot better then the old expect for limited parking. However it is downtown Vegas, so parking sucks from the start.I have a lot of hope for it and also Saturday before the new start time, is a meeting for all Neoncon Volunteers. I plan on going without really knowing what its going to entails, however one of my fellow home gamers and SRM/PFS player Chris has some ideas he will be presenting.

Now that most of the home game group has probably scrolled through to this point time to recap the latest in Trial of the Beast.

The party was shorthanded this week with Quick Breakwind (Yes that is his new name after befriending a Wyvern) and the mysterious Olin watching the horses outside of Schloss Caromarc. Judge Daramid had them travel to here after the Beast to ensure his protection and to contact his mysterious Creator.
Upon Arriving the remaining four Huntress, Paithen, Seska and Mouse were set upon at the gatehouse by a pair of trollhounds guarding the entrance.  Shortly after the combat started, Huntress dropped one with a single shot from her bow and Mouse charged the other trollhound. Before the rest could act they were beset two very large trolls from the gate and 3 goblins raining arrows down upon them. The party defeated the foes but no with some injury as Seska lost the ring finger on his left hand due to a vicous attack by a trollhound.
The goblin slaves of the troll fled when the 2 were defeated leaving behind an amulet they stole from the Whispering Way.
on the way to the mansion there was the troll leader another troll and trollhound which were in a well fought and challenging fight where huntress and Paithen nearly lost their lives. Due to Huntress finding an old guards tunic the unseen servants and traps in the manse didn't effect the party at all and provided warm clothes. However in the alchemy lab they we ambushed but several rust monsters, which caused Seska to flee in terror.
We left off at the rope bridge where our noble adventurers narrowly defeated the Ernieyes that were Summon Monster VI trap summoned.

It was a very bloody night and they barely survived intact, but on the plus side the loot was really good.

Next moment of Idleness shall have the Game Day and next home game updates!
