Catching Up

Whew Holidays and just November can just be hectic, so I am bowing out of the dreaded Black Friday this year and volunteered to work a few hours at the office.

Wow there is a lot I need to cover since my last blog.

Lets start off with Neoncon. I really enjoyed myself and I know quite a few others did too.

Neoncon Day 1

Showed to play in a Pathfinder Society game, Frostfur Captives, being run by Marty Weil. I was apprehensive at first since I was playing a character I created just for the convention (a gunslinger) and also Marty has had a reputation for being a little argumentative, railroading, and condescending of other people's characters. I was pleasantly surprised! He made those annoying little goblins very interesting and no one walked away complaining. Not saying that it was the Game of the Con or anything like that but definitely I did not regret playing.
After the PFS we had a break and I chatted with several people, finally got set up for the Shadowrun Convention Mission, Moving Day to play. It went FANTASTIC, the group got along well, JP really shined as Ralph the Troll Hobo Shaman who has a really nice box down by the river. I can honestly say everyone walked away content, had some older players and some I'd never played with before so it was a good mix.

Neoncon Day 2
It was Friday, I was to play NeoExodus (Very Fun, Loads of return Hate to the Creator what's his name?) then run a PFS game that was changed a couple of days ahead of time, but still went well. Then I ran Shadowrun Convention Mission - Ancient Pawns. This mission has been by far my favorite that I have ran out of the 6 I've done so far. The party was well constructed and worked well together even when the best laid plans have to be scrapped within the first round of combat. It was well paced and even though they didn't get to complete everything they wanted to, the party was still extremely successful in accomplishing the mission at hand.

Neoncon Day 3
Saturday, Con fatigue was starting in on me, however I had purposely scheduled the afternoon session as a break to spend with the Wife and then a short nap before the PFS Interactive Blood under Absalom, which I still hadn't been told if I was running or not. The morning slot I played my gunslinger again with a very talented GM, unfortunately I do not recall his real name but he goes by Czrenobog on the Paizo forums. We played Exiles of Winter which was a simple game with more @#%*ing goblins. I am really starting to dislike the little buggers..
Took lunch with the Wife, went to Greek restaurant where I had a pretty good chicken kabob and the Wife enjoyed her Gyro.
Quick nap then back to the con for evening session. Had a bowl of Hot and Sour soup with JP, the half packet of soy sauce really did improve it thanks again!
So long story short about the PFS Interactive... it wasn't interactive, every player at my table enjoyed themselves until the finale. I missed Year of the Shadowlodge the Year before and now regret that even more with this years really sucking the ye ol' hind tit. I don't think it was ever play tested and was poorly written. It ran late and I had an early game the next morning.

Neoncon Day 4
Yay for Daylight Savings Time! Got a much needed extra hour of sleep before running Shadowrun Convention Mission - Ashes. Had some last minute player changes but it was a solid game with solid players.
I then spent the afternoon playing some Blood Bowl Team Manager (awesome game itself)

Convention Recap

Solid Convention, I will be there next year. I think I might pass on Pathfinder and run more Shadowrun since there seemed to be an awful lot of interest and inquiries. I do think there was a lack of advertising and if some was done we would have had a larger crowd. Everyone should make sure they have a belt, damn you Chris for pointing that guy out grrr.

Las Vegas Game Day 11/12/11

Was a lite day, but then again I expected that with the Convention having been the week before. I of course ran a Shadowrun Mission which we had 2 open seats but the party more then made up for the lack. In the afternoon slot I played more Bloodbowl and then another card game which I can't recall the name right now.

Home Game Fun

Tough to talk about without spoilers. The Beast has been found Innocent of all charges and now the players are headed to confront the Beast's creator. Schloss Caromarc is the name of the location he is dwelling and they should complete the module in the Next session on Dec 3rd. Only thing keeping them from that would be a TPK, but that isn't possible with at least one person going to be absent, the new party can be rebuilt around him....Gosh I can be evil since I know they read this :) But definitely we will be in Broken Moon before the New Year.

Happy Holidays
