It's been awhile... Again

Sorry about the long pause

We were only able to get out 3 podcasts before Life got in the way. But that happens

Expecting child #2, who should be here in about 45 days and will be a little brother to my son Oliver.

Going to modify the format of this blog a bit. There will be a On the Gaming Front, for updates on my current games and Reviews, which is a review of Nerdy TV, Movies and Books.

On the Gaming Front-
I'm running a once a week game for 2 hr sessions. The game is currently Savage Rifts and we have just started the Murderthon adventure. So far there has been some small issue with pay scale the twilight legion provides but I feel this has all been worked out. Last week and this weeks games have been cancelled due to LIFE. Its amazing how much that gets in the way :)

Reviews-
Stargate SG-1
EPISODE #221
ORIGINAL AIR DATE: 03.05.99
SYNDICATION AIR DATE: 05.08.00
DVD DISC: Season 2, Disc 5
WRITTEN BY: Brad Wright
DIRECTED BY: Charles Correll
GUEST STARS:
Alex Zahara (Michael), Aaron Pearl (Lt. George Hammond), Amber Rothwell(Jenny), Pamela Perry (Cassandra), Daniel Bacon (Technician), Glynis Davies (Catherine), Fred Henderson (Major Thornbird), Sean Campbell (Sergeant), Efosa Otuomagie (Security Police)

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire SG-1 Series. O'Neill and crew are thrown back to 1969 and have to figure out a way home. This is a stand alone episode that allows fans to catch their collective breath before the season finale. Most times its a light hearted romp, with a young Catherine, General Hammond and mixed it with interactions with the Hippie culture. I would say this is one of the top 10 SG-1 Episodes and a requirement for watching.

I've got another log going called FMJay Fitness about my journey from 500 lbs to my current 225 and keeping it off

Starting a Podcast

Wow, where has the time gone?

An update to begin, starting a PODCAST folks. My co-host and I are calling it "Light of Day Reviews" and the premise is to spring bad, cult, and generally odd movies on people and interview them. I felt that I should blog the thought process behind the IDEA so here you go!

First of all the seeds for the podcast during An Evening with Kevin Smith at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in 2015. I've been a long time fan and admirer of Mr. Smith and so even though I was very ill with one of the worst colds I've had in recent memory, I forced myself to attend the performance. Boy can that man talk and talk, Silent Bob my ass. One of the major topics he went over was taking an idea and turning it into a podcast. That planted the seed in the back of my mind and I didn't think much of it for a while.

Now jump ahead a few months to the beginning of October 2015. I was attending the local Ren Faire with one of my best friends (and future co-host Chris Clay) and as we were leaving we were discussing some really bad movies and how we really enjoyed introducing new people to them. <Light Bulb!>  I now had an idea for the podcast I've wanted to do. Immediately I brought up the IDEA to Chris who also agreed that it would be a good. Now real life got in the way for the next year and once again it got pushed to the back burner. Granted we brought it up every now and then and the idea still felt like a good IDEA.

A year goes by and as well as a large number number of bad movies being watched. My friend Kim and her boyfriend, John moved from Brooklyn, NY to Las Vegas. We met up at Pizza Rock in Green Valley Ranch (I swear I don't go to casinos that much!) and discovered that John was just as big of a non-mainstream movie man as myself! We started talking about the movie Black Sheep (2006) and I am not talking about the Chris Farley/David Spade classic, and Kim says that she hasn't seen it yet. OMG that's the whole premise of my IDEA!!!!

A week later, I was finishing up a Savage Rifts game session and brought it up to Chris again and he was still all for it. Yay! I suggested Black Sheep and again he was all for it. I messaged Kim and John and they agreed to be the first guests and want to be regulars. The IDEA was starting to become reality!

Now I've started the Facebook page and soon to have a website. Please keep in mind both are under construction as I teach myself basic website design and gather the equipment to begin starting the podcast. Once I have the equipment, I will schedule the first recording which should be in Jan 2017. After that I will do the post production and get it on iTunes and Google Play for everyone to enjoy.

Wish me luck, I am learning a lot as I go and having a lot of fun.

I will keep everyone updated

A Busy Season

Hi Again,

Wow is it February already!? OMG what happened to January? I just looked and it has been since Dec 9th since I updated my Blog, but mostly that is because gaming has been sort of sparse due to a number of factors. First of all the holidays get in the way of everything and only those lucky few who have gamers in their family were able to get their game on!

Second I went to CES, wow what an experience. For those that don't know CES is the Consumer Electronics Show that each year showcases all upcoming and most advanced electronics out there. Oh Boy Nerd heaven lol. I really enjoyed going by the Sony area and Microsoft Areas as well as the ESPN and watched some basketball in 3d.

Also due to a tragic double booking I had to miss January's Las Vegas Game Day (Boo) and go a bar and forced to watch the Patriots win another playoff game with the Wife and several friends (non gaming). This was the first I missed since I started running Shadowrun Missions at Game Day. Needless to say I was disappointed and I am sure my players were as well.

Ahh almost forgot about Carrion Crown news, started Module 3 Broken Moon. I tend to start of modules with a few random encounters to give a bit of treasure especially if I think the module will be lacking in said treasue. Sad to say that this was met with several unhappy comments about preparedness when I was fully prepared and had even ran them thru the first encounter. Oh well, I will stick closer to the module then and avoid needless complaints. The AP is going smoothly and there have been a few hick ups, but all in all going well. We are even adding a female to party!

Congrats to Jack on new bride and partner in Gaming.

A few other notes, I had to miss last game session due to a case of plague which wife caught and force me to miss a Super Bowl party/chili cook-off as well. I was also force to cancel my Gencon plans this year, personal reasons.

Managed to get in a few fun boardgames as well Blood Bowl is always a favorite and tried Dominion for the first time. Dominion is simple, elegant and awesome; simple enough for beginning gamers and strategy enough for the most experienced player. Its a deck building game that is fast paced and quick. I would also consider it a gateway game that could be used for non gamers to be introduced into the more advanced gaming, even my wife said she will be willing to try it!
